The Comen NF5 HFNC is designed for patients with spontaneous breathing, including those receiving humidification therapy, oxygen therapy, and patients with tracheal intubation or tracheostomy. NF5 delivers a constant flow of warmed, humidified gas that generates variable airway pressure to support ventilation. By contrast, CPAP achieves support through a constant airway pressure (typically via fixed pressure settings), while NF5 modulates support via the constant flow rate of fresh gas.
